Our Journey

Who was Abdul Rahim

Miyan Abdul Rahim, son of Miyan Noor Muhammad and a grandson of Muhammad Azam was born in 1907 in a small town of Faisalabad known as Toba-Tek Singh. He had a large family of six brothers and two sisters.

After completing his basic education from Toba-Tek Singh he went for his higher education to the college of Laillpur in Faisalabad and did his F.A.C.T. His interest to study Medicine made him travel to Amratsar in India, but he was rejected because of his weak eye sight. He tried his luck to get into the Army but was again rejected due to medical reasons.

He came back and got married in 1930 at the age of 23 and had five sons and two daughters. In 1933 he left for India again to look for a job. His only condition was to get a job for an income of Rs.40 per month. So he refused all other offers and came back in 1935 after struggling for two years. He started a new life and devoted himself in full time farming.

In 1948 he had an accident and fell off from a tree which broke his spine and he was paralyzed for six months and had to stay in bed. After recovering from his illness, he became a primary teacher. He did CT in 1952 and started teaching Islamic Studies, History, Geography and English in a High School. He was retired in 1972 and performed Hajj twice in 1974 and 1988. He made some visits to UK to see his grandson. His longest stay was for two years from 1990 to 1992 when he spent the time with their children. His main ambition was to implement and spread Islam as much as possible in the family as well as outside. He died in November 1998 while saying his Tahajjud prayers. His soul rests in Mureedwala situated in his home town Toba-Tek Singh.
